These simmer pot recipes are perfect for fall. We all know the familiar scents of a fall day. Bring those into your home naturally with a simmer pot. Just add a few ingredients to some water on the stove and simmer all day to fill your home with the smells of autumn. Add more water as it gets low and a fall stove simmer can literally go from morning to night. Try all five of the recipes below then pick your favorite scent combination.

For all of the recipes below, just add the ingredients to a small saucepot and bring to a simmer on your stove. Add more water as needed to keep this simmering for as long as you would like. TIP: Try this method in the crockpot as well! Remember to use caution with these recipes and never leave your home with something on the stove! Who needs chemical air fresheners when you have these all-natural versions to try?

5 Delicious & Fragrant Simmer Pot Recipes for Fall

A fall stove simmer is the perfect way to bring the scents of fall into your home naturally. Choose one of these blends to gets started, however, you might just want to try them all. I am sure you will end up with a favorite that you can simmer day after day.

Spiced Citrus Blend

  • 1-2 cups of water
  • an apple (cut into large slices)
  • an orange (cut into large slices)
  • a lemon (cut into large slices)
  • 2 tablespoons whole cloves
  • 4 cinnamon sticks

Apple Pie Scent

  • 1-2 cups of water
  • 1 apple (cut into large slices)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Spiced Orange Blend

  • orange rind
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tablespoons whole cloves
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1-2 cups of water

Fall Spiced Scent

  • 1 orange rind
  • 1 apple (cut into large slices)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 cups of water

Cinnamon Orange Spice

  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2tablespoon nutmeg
  • an orange (cut into large slices)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 cups of water

A simmer pot is easy to make and super inexpensive as well. Grab a few supplies at the store and keep them on hand all season. You can then pop a simmer pot on the stove any day of the week.

I have to admit I’ve never tried this but I think your post will prompt me to do it! I love scented candles burning even in the summer (when the house is closed up with the AC running!) Thanks for sharing the recipes!

One of my memories growing up was when my mom would put something on the stove top to make the house smell awesome before guests arrived. Will have to try this for myself. Visiting from Whims Wednesday party.

I like these too, I have one of those little mug warmers and I take a large mug and put some yummy smelling things in it in the morning and set it on the counter. It’s small but works good for apartments and doesn’t take up stove space that way. 🙂
