Healthier Turkey Chilli

I don't often use ground turkey, as I find it a bit dry, but in dishes like this with lots of sauce it is lovely as it absorbs all the flavour and is great for an alternative to ground beef as it is a lot lower in fat.

With a flavoursome blend of spices, corn, beans and vegetables, it's a delicious and hearty recipe that you will want to make again and again.

Vegetables in Turkey Chilli

For my Turkey chilli, I like to add the usual onion and garlic base, but I also add red bell pepper, celery and carrots, just to bulk it out. As well as those fresh jalapeños is a must, they are a nice fleck of green throughout the chilli.

I remove the seeds and some of the pith which contains the heat, when I dice the jalapeños for this chilli, as otherwise it's too spicy for my kids with the added cayenne, but if you like your chilli really hot, leave the pith attached.

Got some other veg you want to use up? Then feel free to dice up and add into the chilli, so long as it's not too much of a ratio, it should affect the overall cooking of the chilli. Mushrooms and even roasted butternut squash cubes make a great addition.

Can you freeze Turkey Chilli?

Any chilli is perfect for freezing, it's probably one of my go to dishes when I am batch cooking to add some meals to the freeze as it's perfect for tubbing up into handy servings.

You can take a tub out and fully defrost in the fridge before heating in a pan, or defrost in the microwave and then reheat fully before enjoying.
